Feeling Like Fall

I always get a little down in the fall. I know it's beautiful, the weather is better, the colors... Don't forget the colors. I just happen to be a spring- summer kind of gal. Fall makes me sad. I know that cold is just around the corner.

In any case, it has been a busy time for me. I've had a show up at Earth Fare in Brier Creek and one in Clayton at Eye of the Eagle. I should have posted about my reception last Friday, but I'm just getting used to this blogging thing. We had a fair turnout, but I really wonder why all of these people in Clayton who claim they want to support artists never come to any art related events. Where are they when we open a new show?

It is a rare day that any of the members of either the Clayton Visual Arts or the Johnston County Arts Council ever shows up for an art opening at the newest gallery in downtown. Strange, don't you think, considering they are supposed to be the art supporters. It's a little disheartening for the artists to keep trying when it seems like nobody cares, and the art Oh well, so much for my little soapbox. I'll just keep painting and trying to get exhibits outside of this town.

I AM excited about the Mountains-to-Sea Trail exhibit and celebration at Portofino on October 18. I went out on the trail last week to work "plein-aire." It was so great being out in the woods painting. It's such a reconnect with nature for me. I LOVED it. I almost finished one painting, but took photos to work on at least 2 more. I can't wait!

Well, next time I promise to post some new pictures. I have a couple of newer pieces I think you'll like! Catch ya later.
Cheryl
